The EG League of Legends department has just announced the team’s revamped NA LCS roster. This comes days after the LCSPA strike ended, allowing for the 2023 LCS Summer split to kick off after a 2-week delay. With 5 new players joining the Evil Geniuses LoL lineup, it’s hard to expect them to replicate former EG LoL roster iterations’ success in the LCS LoL circuit and LoL Esports MSI 2022. This is the new EG LoL lineup, featuring some promising pieces.

Unforgiven will be the new EG LoL ADC for their League of Legends LCS roster

William “UNF0RGIVEN” Nieminen will be the new starting bot laner for the EG League of Legends LCS roster. The young Swedish bot laner will finally make his premiere on the LoL Esports LCS stage on June 14, 2023, as the 2023 LCS Summer Split kicks off. The reworked LCS LoL schedule pins Unforgiven LoL and his teammates from the EG LoL roster against the newcomer to the NA LCS, the NRG LoL roster. NRG LoL secured a spot in the NA LoL Esports sphere by purchasing the CLG LCS slot just days after the 2023 LCS Spring Split ended.

Unforgiven LoL signed with the 100 Thieves League of Legends roster for the 2023 LCS season. But when Doublelift LoL came out of retirement, he lost his starting position. This made the early portion of the season hard for the young bot laner who spent 2,5 years dominating the ERL LoL system. After making a name for himself on the 2022 MAD Lions LEC roster, he now enters the NA LCS without much pressure. The LCS EG lineup has been missing a difference maker in the bot lane since the entire Danny EG LoL controversy transpired, so there’s no way to go but up.

Eyla and Revenge joining Jojopyun on EG LCS roster

Joining him in the bot lane is another player looking to redeem himself in the eyes of the dwindling LCS LoL audience. Eyla LoL started the 2023 LoL Esports season as the substitute support for the FlyQuest LCS roster due to visa issues. Winsome LoL was starting in his place, but the two switched places on the FlyQuest LoL Academy roster once the issues were resolved. This led to a fall in form for the FlyQeust LCS roster, which triggered calls to bring Winsome LoL back. This coupled with a public trash talk spute with then EG LCS support Vulcan LoL, led to everyone discrediting the effort Eyla LoL has put in.

To make matters worse, the EG LCS management traded Vulcan LoL for Eyla LoL. This version of the 2023 EG LCS roster is looked at like a sinking ship given the highs the previous squad reached during the NA LCS and LoL Esports competitions. The only way out of this is by performance and this new EG LoL roster has their work cut out for them. Top laner Revenge LoL will also be joining after 2 forgettable years on the Immortals LCS roster.

Armao and Shieden will be replacing Inspired in the jungle role

Everyone knew that the new 2023 EG LCS roster was going to take a step back. Replacing Inspired LoL was always going to be tough. Inspired has been an MVP in both the LCS LoL and LEC LoL. Given how important the jungle role is in LoLesports competitions, its understandable. But the EG League of Legends department is taking the right approach. Jonathan “Armao” Armao has been playing in League of Legends LCS circuits since 2014. Being a journeyman by trait, he will likely slot in a mentorship role. Nobody can discredit his experience in a competitive environment, especially with a team this turbulent.

What the Evil Geniuses LoL executives are banking on is the flourishing of the other jungler on their EG LoL 2023 roster. Jade “Sheiden” Libut or Sheiden LoL is one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the EG LoL academy. Despite a poor team showing during the start of the 2023 season, the hopes are high for Sheiden LoL. His dominance on the ranked solo queue ladder has been well-documented. But LCS EG LoL is banking on the potential he showed during the 2022 NACL Summer Split with C9 LoL Academy, where he was one of the best junglers in the tier-two scene.
